The Managing Authority
The Managing Authority is responsible for the Programme implementation and its overall management ensuring both institutional representation and compliance with applicable Community and national rules namely, eligibility rules, information and publicity, monitoring and assessment procedures.
In 2007-2013 the Atlantic Area Managing Authority is The North Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N). It consists of a representative of CCDR-N president and two executive managers.
CCDR-N is a decentralised body from the central government. Its mission is to promote the conditions allowing the integrated and sustainable development of Portugal North Region (NUT II), thereby contributing to national cohesion.
The North Region of Portugal is an open economy with a long tradition in international trade. Located in the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, its 144 kilometres of Atlantic coastline is a vital factor of such economic tradition. The connection to the sea is also a remarkable element of its cultural and historical heritage.
